Learning opportunities
You may have already attended the Cultural Briefing session provided by our Learning Services Team. We have had really positive feedback from these sessions where sponsors have enjoyed getting a basic introduction to Ukrainian language and culture. If you are yet to attend and wish to, there will be a session available for sponsor families on Wed 11th May at 10am-11am. You are welcome to join and can book your place here:
Homes for Ukraine – Culture Briefing for Sponsors (worcestershire.gov.uk)
Our Learning Services Team are currently in a process of developing a number of different activities for guests including English classes. All courses will be promoted on our website here: Adult Learning Courses (worcestershire.gov.uk)
Accessing the NHS
The health guide here covers resources to help both Guests and Hosts to make the most of the NHS services available in the county. The guide can be accessed online and we would like to encourage you to use this to support your guests.
Opportunities to connect
A Connect Cafe will be held at Kidderminster Library for Ukrainian families and their sponsors on Friday 27th May from 9:30 – 11:30. This is a chance to connect but also for guests to see what the children’s sessions are like and whether it is something they’d like to come to again.
If you run, or are part of, a support group and know of an opportunity for support and connection in your district that is available, we also encourage you to register your support groups and networks on our Community Services Directory to strengthen and connect further the support available to one another in the community.
You can also search our Community Services Directory for a range of support by filtering the ‘Type of Help’ category to select the support required, or searching what is available within your area by filtering using the postcode feature.
District support
If you have not already, I would like to reiterate the importance of letting your district contact know when your guests have arrived. Your district will be able to advise you on many common health and wellbeing questions as well as help you to access support in your local area. If you are due an accommodation check or need to access the £200 interim support for your guest please your district will also be your point of contact for this:
privatesectorhousing@wychavon.gov.uk |
More information on help in Wychavon is available here.
The Here2Help team are also here to help you and your guests to access the services and support that you may need, so please do not hesitate to request help.
Support and signposting
I have attached again for your reference a checklist and Welcome guide which may be a helpful prompt to begin to think about the role you can play in facilitating various activities and support for your guest. These include accessing GP’s, opticians and dentists, registering for schools, setting up bank accounts and phone networks. The links provided in the checklist attached will support you and your guests with these and other activities.
Remember to search the Directory, or raise a request for help from our Here2Help team if needed.
Also keep an eye out on your district website as well as our website for further support and opportunities available.
